This intriguing shot of a wild Eastern Japanese toad in the heart of Tokyo was taken by young photographer Sora Miyazawa and features in our sixty-second Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.

Exactly how this species thrives in a city of 14 million people is unclear. Toads are more successful than other amphibians at dispersing and surviving in new habitats, including in urban environments like this one.
