The Smallest Songster Wall Print

Quick guide to selecting your wall print:

1. Choose the type - canvas, photo paper or fine art paper. Need more details? See the wall prints guide.

2. Select the size - the options in the drop-down menu refer to the print before a frame is added (including any border). All images are produced in their original uncropped format, so the actual image size may vary depending on your selection.

Canvas prints: the full image covers the entire front face. There is no border and the edges are white. The size selected from the drop-down size menu will be the actual image size.

Photo paper or fine art paper (framed or unframed) - actual image size within the border will be:

Paper size: width x height  Actual image size: width x height
40cm x 30cm 23.5cm x 18cm
50cm x 40cm 40cm x 30.5cm
70cm x 50cm 44.5cm x 34cm
100cm x 70cm 65.5cm x 50cm

3. Pick a frame (or choose not to). Frames are 2cm wide and stand 2.3cm from the wall.

4. Add to basket and you're done!

Description / The Smallest Songster Wall Print

The Smallest Songster © Nooa Mikkola 2022. Wildlife Photographer of the Year is owned by the Natural History Museum, London.

11-14 Years, Highly Commended

A goldcrest sings his high-pitched rhythmic song from a Norway spruce behind Nooa’s home in western Finland. The tiny bird – Europe’s smallest, weighing just 6 grams – was moving so fast in his search for insects that only when he stopped to sing could Nooa focus on him. The low light on a rainy spring day brought out his colours, including a hint of gold at the back of his yellow crest, which rises up in display.

Goldcrests are widespread in northern Europe and Asia, breeding in coniferous forests, and migrating further south to avoid harsh winters.

About the photographer (2022)

Nooa has been taking photos for about two years. He mainly likes to take photos of birds, which he also enjoys observing and identifying. He takes most of his photos in the forest next to his home without any advanced planning. In addition to photography, his hobbies include sports, such as football and skiing.
