Pufferfish Christmas Tree Decoration

With species names that include balloonfish, bubblefish and globefish, it’s no wonder pufferfish have made it to the top of the Christmas bauble wish list.

Pufferfish are relatively slow ocean swimmers, which could make them easy prey, but by sucking water into their stomachs, they can triple or quadruple their normal size. What’s more, the skin of many species have spikes and a poisonous neurotoxin!

Why not come and meet one of these fascinating fish, Tetraodon mbu, on our behind-the-scenes Spirit Collection tour?
