Description / Face to Face Wall Print
Face to Face © Danijel Djurovic (2026). Wildlife Photographer of the Year is owned by the Natural History Museum, London.
15–17 Years, Runner-Up 2026
A threatening snarl augmented by the slash of a scar over the lion’s eye was thrilling for Danijel. “Lions carry their history openly, written in scars and expression,” he says. This lion’s face says it all.
Many male lions have a short and dangerous life, wandering as nomads from the ages of two to three. It is possible that the wound of this snarling male resulted from a fight with a rival.
