Made from a blend of soft organic cotton and recycled polyester, the long-sleeved navy-blue sweater features a design on the front, inspired by ‘The March of Progress’ illustration. It’s of six figures increasing in size and development from an ape-like animal to a modern human being – in this case one with Charles Darwin’s white beard.

On the back, styled like a rock-band’s world tour merchandise, are the dates and locations visited by Darwin when he sailed around the world onboard HMS Beagle between 1831–1836. 

During this journey, the famous biologist developed his theory of evolution through natural selection, which is at the heart of his book On the Origin of Species.
