Axolotl Christmas Tree Decoration

One way to always have good memories of Christmas is to never grow up – much like the incredibly cute axolotl (pronounced ak-sue-lot-el), a type of salamander that doesn’t go through metamorphosis to then live on land.

It means that Ambystoma mexicanum retains its tadpole-like tail and frilly gills so it can dwell in its native wetlands and lakes of southern Mexico City. Although critically endangered in the wild, vast numbers are kept as pets around the world, so you may have seen one.

Why not raise awareness of these endearing creatures – and charm the Christmas socks off your guests – by decorating your tree with a new felt friend.
