Description / The Calm After the Storm Wall Print

For Roberto, these Baringo giraffes emerged from the forest at exactly the right moment. A heavy downpour had just turned to much lighter rain, creating a fine mist in the background that lends the photo an ethereal quality.
This rare subspecies had been wiped out in Kenya due to poaching, agricultural expansion and habitat destruction. The steadily increasing Kenyan population exists today because some were reintroduced to Lake Nakuru in 1997 by the Kenyan government.
