Description / Sojourner Rover Key Ring

This is a great souvenir for fans of planetary exploration. The key ring’s metal tag design is of Sojourner, the first of five rovers NASA has sent to Mars.

The robotic explorer was delivered by the Mars Pathfinder Lander on 4 July 1997 and successfully achieved its mission of analysing rocks, relaying images and taking atmospheric measurements.

Called Sojourner Truth after the African American abolitionist and women’s rights activist, the name was voted for by school students as part of NASA’s outreach programme.

The reverse side of the key ring has our Museum logo engraved in it.
