Reflections on fish wall print
As the fish-farmer checked his stock before nightfall, Frédéric set out to take a photograph that would tell a story. The intention was to portray the act of covering the fish cages in such a way that it would look like a fisherman throwing a net over a shoal of wild fish.
This, though, is the first organic fish-farm in France, in the sea by the islands of Frioul, off Marseille. Its guiding principles are respect for the environment, the animals and the consumer. ‘The image seemed so symbolic,’ says Frédéric, ‘all those fish sweeping into the net’s reflection – a reminder of the devastating effects of overfishing.’
