Eye Of The Drought wall print

Animal Portraits, Highly Commended 2020

An eye blinked open as a hippopotamus emerged to take a breath – just once every few minutes – in a remnant mud pool of the drought-stricken Mara River in Kenya. Hippos submerge in water during the day to stay cool and keep their sensitive skin out of the sun.
