Excavate 9 rocks and minerals from a ‘fossilised’ block of earth to create your own collection. Identify your specimens using the handy guide and discover whether they are igneous, sedimentary or metamorphic.

The kit contains pieces of blue azurite, obsidian, granite, sandstone, marble, scoria, pyrite (fool’s gold), limestone, cyanite, chalk, a hessian bag, a plastic rock collection case, a magnifier and full instructions. You’ll need some additional household objects and supplies to complete some of the activities. Ages 5+.

Sales of all products support the Natural History Museum

Proceeds from online shop orders support the Museum's research into understanding diseases like malaria and conserving the biodiversity of our planet.

With your help we can continue to carry out pioneering research, care for our internationally important collections and inspire people to take better care of the natural world.
