This resurrection plant (Selaginella lepidophylla) is great survivor and comes to life when given water, even after years of being dormant. During periods of drought the plant goes into a dormant state to survive. The plant has grown on Earth since the Carboniferous period 360 million years ago, long before the dinosaurs.
