Help us save our specimens
We need to protect our unique specimen collections so visitors and scientists can continue exploring the natural world into the future.
We need to raise £250,000 to build a new state-of-the-art specimen preservation facility to care for the collections at the Museum.
How is it different to the new Darwin Centre facility?
We need this new facility in addition to the Darwin Centre building which houses over 20 million insect and plant specimens. It is envisaged that more specimens will travel to and from the Darwin Centre as it thrives in global scientific significance.
Why is it so important to care for our treasured collections?
Our scientists carry out groundbreaking research on our specimens to understand the natural world and its diversity. Our collections are at risk from pests. We must take action to protect our specimens before its too late.
