The pill box commemorates the 200th anniversary Charles Darwin’s birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of On the Origin of Species. The box is decorated with a illustration of a cactus finch.
These birds were of huge interest to Darwin as they showed him that different species adapted to their habitat and diet. The base is decorated with designs inspired by the first edition of On the Origin of Species. Hand-decorated with 22-carat gold in Stoke-on-Trent, England.
