Whale of a time apron

Kate Slater is an illustrator who uses collage to create her designs. She works from her studio, the Apple Room, deep in the Staffordshire countryside and has illustrated three children’s books. Kate founded her Etsy shop in 2008.

For this piece, she took inspiration from two images in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2015 competition: People’s Choice nominee Jump! Quickly! by Andrew Lee, and the Underwater category winner A whale of a mouthful by Michael Aw.

The illustration on this apron was first created using a collage. The design was then printed on a 100%-cotton apron, giving it an authentic, hand-made feel.

This is a beautiful, practical gift that’s perfect for cooks and wildlife enthusiasts.
